Overview

Automostly is an open badge service for per-artefact AI workflow autonomy ratings. A publisher registers their workflow and submits per-artefact autonomy scores — one score per applicable dimension — and receives a badge for that artefact. The badge embeds on any website as a small visual. Clicking it opens a popup showing the full radar graph of all dimensions, the Autonomy Index in the center, plus the artefact name and description.

Tagline: "One score. Ten dimensions. A verifiable production profile."

The standard is AI-capability forward: a higher score means more of the production workflow was executed autonomously by AI. Not a warning. Not a disclosure obligation. A demonstration of what AI workflows can do.

Embedding a badge

Drop two lines into any HTML page:

<script src="https://automostly.org/js/widget.js"></script> <span data-automostly-id="YOUR_ARTEFACT_UUID"></span>

The widget loads asynchronously, finds all elements with a data-automostly-id attribute, and renders the badge SVG. Clicking the badge opens a popup with the full radar chart. The widget loads D3 v7 dynamically from CDN if not already present.

You can also reference a badge SVG directly:

<img src="https://automostly.org/api/artefacts/YOUR_UUID.svg" width="300" height="80" alt="Automostly badge">

Dimension vocabulary

Scale: 0 = fully human, 5 = fully AI autonomous. Scores represent the pipeline's current operational level, not its ceiling. Mark a dimension N/A when it is not part of your workflow — it is excluded from the Autonomy Index and rendered as a grayed-out axis on the radar.

1. Source Extraction

How autonomously AI discovers and pulls source documents.

LevelLabel
0Human manually selects and provides all source documents
1Human defines sources; AI assists with retrieval
2AI crawls predefined URLs; human reviews all results
3AI discovers from registered domains; human spot-checks
4AI discovers and prioritizes sources; minimal human configuration
5AI autonomously discovers, crawls, and selects all sources

2. Source Authenticity Validation

How autonomously AI verifies source credibility and citation integrity.

LevelLabel
0Human manually verifies every source and citation
1AI flags potential issues; human verifies all
2AI screens for known patterns; human reviews all flagged items

Score scale

Autonomy Index = average of all applicable (non-N/A) dimensions, range 0.0–5.0. Displayed as 0–10 (raw × 2) to match the badge visual.

N/A handling: dimensions not relevant to a pipeline are excluded from the score and rendered as a grayed-out dashed axis on the radar chart.

JSON-LD schema

Every artefact record returned by /api/artefacts/:id/data is valid JSON-LD. Embed it in your HTML for structured data indexing:

<script type="application/ld+json"> { "@context": "https://automostly.org/schema/v1", "@type": "AutomostlyBadge", "artefactId": "…", "artefactName": "…", "description": "…", "artefactUrl": null, "workflow": "…", "dimensions": [ { "id": "source-extraction", "level": 5, "applicable": true }, … ], "autonomyIndex": 3.78, "autonomyIndexDisplay": 7.6, "verified": true, "createdAt": "2026-10-17T12:00:00.000Z" } </script>

Verified vs self-declared

Verified badges are generated programmatically by the workflow itself via API key authentication (Authorization: Bearer <API_KEY>). The API key is issued per account and held only by the publisher's own system.

Self-declared badges are submitted via the web form using a session JWT. Both are valid; the visual distinction lets readers distinguish machine-generated attestation from manual submission.
